A journalist for more than 30 years, Evan Schuman's background includes news reporting for radio networks (including CBS Radio News, National Public Radio, AP Radio and CNN Radio), consumer news organizations (including

BusinessWeek,
USA Today,

Philadelphia Inquirer and
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution), wire services (Reuters, AP and UPI) and technology/business publishers. He served as an editorial manager for 11 years at CMP Media, where his posts included News Editor at
InformationWeek, News Editor at TechWeb, Editor of
The Internet Business Report and Editorial Director for the Custom Publishing division. In the online arena, Schuman has been actively involved in the launch of more than 40 corporate Web sites and has consulted with dozens of Fortune 1000 companies on marketing and content strategy.
Before launching The Content Firm, Schuman served as VP/Editor in Chief of Triangle Publishing Services Co. Inc., a Massachusetts company that also creates business content. After that, he spent four years as the Retail Editor for Ziff-Davis (
eWEEK,
PCMagazine,
Baseline and
CIOInsights, among other titles) before creating his own retail technology site called
StorefrontBacktalk.
StorefrontBacktalk grew to more than 50,000 subscribers and morphed into a Premium publication, with subscribers paying for Premium content—many from the top global retailers, including Starbucks, Amazon, Walmart, Lowe's, Walgreen's, Macy's, Sears, Home Depot and Target—and with site license agreements from many other top chains, including Costco and JCPenney. Premium subscribers were not only retailers, venture capitalists, payment brands, major media and the largest consumer goods manufacturers also found our exclusive stories worth the investment—among them Visa, Microsoft, Oracle, PayPal, Nike, Whirlpool, Boy Scouts of America, Facebook and
The Wall Street Journal. Schuman sold
StorefrontBacktalk to FierceMarkets in December 2012.
